Jaime Grant
“I make paintings that are filled with spiritual messages for the future”
Artist, Jaime Grant was born and raised in Panama. In his 40’s he came to realize that he had a creative drive
to draw, paint and sculpt. He is inspired by his family. Jaime Grant’s work covers broad themes related to the human experience and struggle. Themes
like historical situations, national and international events, and police brutality are depicted with
magic realist tones grounded in surreal facades. Grant feels his purpose in society is to make
works that evoke a spiritual truth. Stating that he is continually inspired by God. Late in life, Jaime believeds that he was visited by a spirit who drove him to create more than 5000
paintings and to build sculptures that reflect the dialectics of our contemporary situation. "I have no control over this, you know?" says Jaime "I receive messages and I just paint." The central message in his paintings is an illustration of the struggle between good and evil. Jaime is currently a member
of Les Vagabonds collective, a group of artists aiming to bridge the gap between the artist and the art world.
