(Create Dangerously: The Immigrant Artist At Work)
Under the bridge art space presents, Create Dangerously, a site specific installation by
Panamanian born,Miami based artist Jaime Grant. This is Grant’s first solo exhibition.
He is a self-taught Visual practitioner whose keen insights into our human existence
is both critical and magical. His paintings and sculptural renderings of the everyday
echo William Blake’s illuminated manuscripts narrating Biblical passages where heaven and
hell take a precedence. Likewise, Jaime Grant’s work struggles to decipher the mechanisms
that fuel the ills of society through unconventional narratives that collapse time and space.
Much like 1980s experimental aerosol artist, the late practitioner, Rammellzee’s own
Temporal investigations on the roots of urban vernacular language and architecture,
Jaime Grant amplifies his sculptures with sonic components that both shield and
confess his desire to maintain a spiritual connection with his community. His work in
itself is confessional and symmetric as he constructs, deposits, and transcends all at
once. Out of necessity, Jaime Grant creates dangerously time and time again.
